Just like the buses, we have not seen any major reports into students’ use of AI for a while, and then two come along at once. Earlier in the week, we had the HEPI student generative AI survey, and now we have the WonkHE report into the impact AI is having on students’ approaches to learning and assessing how students are experiencing learning and assessment in the age of AI.
This report goes into depth into the effects that AI is having on students and the issues that it is causing within the sector. From student concerns about assessment grades not reflecting what they know to the identification of six discreet types of student AI use to the failure of current institutional policies. There is plenty of food for thought in this report.
