Apple has signed a deal that will see Siri powered by Google Gemini. Apple has not actively participated in the AI arms race, and this deal will see one of their major rivals provide the backbone to Siri, the voice assistant. Given the sheer ubiquity of Apple devices across campus, it is likely that when this is deployed, a lot of students and staff will get access to a much more powerful AI model.
